The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. this no longer exists. this clock used to be attached to the exterior wall of the building that had a blue neon tube entrance corridor. this used to exist on the lower east side of Manhattan Isle. i spend many a late night watching this clock from across the street. first saw it in the mid 70's. wonderful piece of New York History.
